Betting bank: 04/04/12 – Both teams to score at the Bridge, with Angel to delight in Madrid!

Chelsea v Benfica

Of course, in the first leg my BTTS bet was beaten as Chelsea scored but Benfica didn’t. Back at the bridge tonight with all to play for, I’m going for a repeat bet. Why you might ask? Well, for one I often repeat bets that didn’t win the first time if there’s good enough reason to do so and, notably, Benfica have scored in every away (Champions League) game they’ve played this season.

Finally, always tempted by a value anytime scorer, I’ve gone for a man who has seven goals in six European games against English opposition – Oscar Cardozo.

Recommendation: Both teams to score (10/11) for 3 points

Worth a punt: Cardozo anytime scorer (11/4) for 1 point

Real Madrid v Apoel:

A dead rubber of a Champions League tie if ever there was one. Jose will rest most of his regulars, with Callejon, Sahin etc set to start. Of course, i’d still expect Real Madrid to win, but I wouldn’t go near 90 mins (at 1/12!), handicaps or the goal count.

In fact, bar a fun punt, I’m not placing any serious bets pre-match. At a stretch, if you must bet, BTTS at 7/4 or the long shot anytime scorer of option of Apoel’s Ailton (13/2) might be worth taking a chances on.

However, though Real can concede against anyone in Madrid, Apoel, if memory serves, barely registered a shot in the first leg. Given this, Real’s Angel Di Maria, who’s just back from injury, is probably a more realistic scorer option at 11/2 for the first or 11/8 anytime should he start.

Worth a small punt: Di Maria 1st  (11/2)  and anytime scorer (11/8) (0.5 point each)

Results: Both teams scored, while Angel didn’t start but delighted with his goal!

Total yield: + 3.4 points
