Liga MX – 05/08/12

5 Aug

Mixed results last night as Tigres could only draw 0-0, but Monterrey won 2-1. Monterrey were, however, part of a double with over 2.5 goals in a Brazilian Serie B game (Jonville vs Criciuma) so I’ve left myself puzzled as to how I can classify their win!

Anyway, onto today’s pick:

Toulca vs Leon

Top flight newcomers Leon have won their first two Liga MX games, while their hosts today, Toulca, have also gained maximum points in both outings. Of course, read as little or as much into what a league table means after only two games, but it’s fourth vs third and a clash that looks set to contain goals.

In a league that, although in its infancy in terms of your writer betting on it, seems to be inconsistent in the 90 minutes market, under/over goal betting appears a wiser choice – and the stats are good for an overs bet today.

Whilst factoring in cup games is something you should only generally do to assess the priorities of a team in a league fixture, there is little to work with at this stage and as such I’ve included recent Copa MX results in the equation.

In an initial group stage format, Toulca have lost and drawn their matches with Lobos: 3-1 and 2-2. Leon fared slightly better by defeating Dorados 4-0 after a 2-1 defeat the week before.

As well as league results – Leon won their first Liga MX game 2-0 (away) and won their second 4-0 at home, while Toulca won 3-1 and 2-1 in theirs – over 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in 7/8 games involving both teams.

Recommendation: Over 2.5 goals at 10/11
