Liga MX – Morelia v Santos

9 Nov

Monarcas Morelia v Santos Laguna

This weekend brings the final round (17th) of Liga MX games in the Apertura (opening) Championship, with both Monarcas Morelia (6th) and Santos Laguna (8th) needing to win in order to assure qualification to the playoff phase (top 8 go through).

Dependant on other teams results, a loss for either Morelia or Santos would likely result in that club failing out of the playoff picture. Therefore, we could be in for a cagey affair tonight.

However, Mexican expert Tom Marshall (@mexicoworldcup) fancies Clausura (closing) Champions Santos to go for the win and pointed out that they left big gaps at the back when beating and conceding to Cruz Azul in their last (home) game.

In Morelia’s last four home games, both teams have scored three times, with the hosts netting in all four. Santos, in their last four road games, have scored in every one, with their opponents also netting in all four.

So, in conclusion, there’s a risk that it could be a cagey affair and you always have the option of watching (big bookmakers will stream the game) and assessing the likelihood of that in-play before betting, but I won’t be awake at 4:30 AM (CET) and expect both teams to score and Santos – who have more experience of winning when it counts most compared to Morelia – to win.

Best bet recommendation: Both teams to score (1.7)

Worth a punt: Santos (3.57)
