Tuesday’s Copa del Rey preview: Malaga v Eibar

8 Jan

Malaga v Eibar (1-1 on aggregate)

-Malaga sent a largely second string side out in the first leg of this tie, rescuing a draw with a late goal.

-Malaga were due to play Real Madrid in La Liga a few days after the first leg, with that game considered their priority.

-Malaga will again send out a weakened team in the second leg tonight.

-Malaga play Barcelona this weekend and that, once again, is their priority.

-In the last round, Malaga beat lowly CP Cacereno 4-3 in the first leg, before sending out a weak starting X1 at home in the second leg – meekly losing 1-0 to progress on away goals.

– In the last round, Eibar drew the first leg v Athletic Bilbao (0-0) and drew the second leg (1-1) to progress to this stage.

Obviously, Malaga will want to progress to the next round and, even with a weakened team, should have enough to beat Eibar. However, the visitors ground out results against Athletic in the last round and the same outcome is not out of the question today.

It’s a no bet game for me, but if I have to make a picks Eibar + 1.25 AH or under 2.5 goals at 2.33 with Betfair seem sensible as Eibar will battle for every inch of grass and look to snare a 1-0, while Malaga, based on their 0-1 home defeat in the last round, can’t be trusted to score two or three with a weakened starting X1 and the knowledge that they can progress on away goals as things stand.

However, Saviola is a good player and Malaga can score through him, while Eibar can’t progress without scoring – therefore, BTTS (2.2 with Ladbrokes) also appeals!

All in all, Eibar + 1.25 AH seems best at 2.22 with Pinnacle, but read through the thoughts and facts above and chose for yourself – I’m just trying to help you out and avoid punters betting blind without knowing the facts.

Good luck
